Harris Tweed Flowers. Where every bloom tells a story

Welcome to The Harris Tweed Florist!

Hello! I'm Sheena, a self-taught textile artist who spent my childhood on the Isle of Harris. At 17, I left for university, but my heart has always remained there. My deep connection with the place drives my creativity and self-expression, infusing each piece with the island's spirit. Since 2010 I have been blending nature and art through my unique handmade floral designs, all crafted from Harris Tweed®. Whether I'm in Perth, Lewis, or Harris, each piece is lovingly made by me.

A Blossoming Career

After a fulfilling 26-year career in nursing, I decided in 2024 to pursue my true passion and embrace my creativity fully.

About Me

Hello, I’m Sheena, a self-taught textile artist passionate about blending nature with art to create handmade floral designs. Each one is lovingly crafted by me, with the occasional tech assistance from my husband, Mr. M.

From Nurse to Artist

In 2010, I made Harris Tweed flowers for my wedding, sparking a creative journey that led me from 26 years as a nurse to becoming a full-time textile artist in 2024. Like a seed planted in the dark, I’ve bloomed under the right conditions by embracing my individuality instead of conforming to others’ expectations.

Inspired by Home

My passion lies in recreating flowers from around the world, but my heart belongs to the landscapes of Scotland, especially the Hebridean Islands where I grew up. The Isle of Harris, my childhood home, continues to inspire me and fuels my dream of returning there one day soon, forever and not just for a working holiday.

The Hebridean Machair Collection

My exclusive Hebridean Wildflower Collection celebrates Scotland’s untamed beauty. Inspired by the vibrant wildflowers of the Outer Hebrides’ machair, these blooms are my love letter to the landscapes that shaped me. Each piece captures the colours and spirit of my childhood playground, where the flora and tiny beasties enchanted me.

Creating with Authenticity

What sets my work apart is my use of authentic HARRIS TWEED® in every flower I produce. This iconic fabric, steeped in history and tradition, adds a richness and heritage to my designs. My flowers aren’t just aesthetically pleasing - they’re as enduring and distinct as the Hebridean landscapes that inspire them.

Each bloom carries a story: of windswept cliffs and wild moors, but also of the crofters who tended the sheep and sheared the wool, the inconspicuous places where crotal was scraped off rocks to dye the wool, the spinners, weavers, and mill workers who poured their craft into this remarkable fabric. I’m incredibly proud to be part of that legacy.

Honouring Originality

Every piece I make is an expression of my individuality and my respect for originality. I encourage others to explore their own creativity and follow their unique paths - but always in a way that honours and respects the work of others. Creativity should inspire, not imitate.

Bringing Scotland to You

My designs are more than just flowers; they’re functional art, connecting human creativity with the beauty of nature. Whether displayed in your home or a public space, each piece invites wonder and joy, offering a small yet meaningful glimpse of Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes.

Thank you for letting me share my passion with you. I hope my creations inspire you to embrace and celebrate your own unique journey.
