Welcome to The Harris Tweed Florist!
Hi! I'm Sheena, a self-taught textile artist who grew up in the Isle of Harris until I was 17 when I left to go to university. I have a deep passion for merging nature and art into my unique handmade floral designs, using Harris Tweed® as my foundation material. Each piece is lovingly crafted by me, whether I'm in Perth, Lewis, or Harris.
A Blossoming Career
Starting with crafting Harris Tweed flowers for my 2011 wedding, my path to becoming a full-time textile artist has been fuelled by passion, creativity, and self-discovery. After a 26 year career in nursing, I chose to follow my true calling and embrace my individuality.

About Me
Hello! I'm Sheena, a self-taught textile artist with vast experience of blending nature and art into handmade floral designs. Each stem I make is lovingly designed and crafted by me, with occasional tech help from my husband, Mr. M.
Blooming: From Nurse to Textile Artist
My journey from crafting Harris Tweed flowers starting in 2010 for my wedding, to becoming a full-time textile artist has been rich with passion and creativity. After a successful 26 years as a nurse, I chose to follow my heart's true calling - celebrating my uniqueness rather than me uncomfortably conforming to societal expectations. Just like a seed planted in the dark, myself and my art have bloomed under the right conditions.
Discovering My Passion
Over the years, I've honed my skills to have the ability to recreate almost any flower from across the globe. Every petal and leaf is a testament to my devotion and love for three-dimensional textile art. However, what truly ignites my passion is something much closer to home...
The Cianalas (Scottish Gaelic for Homesickness)
My creations are more than artificial flowers; they are expressions of Scotland's mesmerising landscapes, especially the enchanting Hebridean Islands. The Isle of Harris, my childhood home, holds a profound place in my heart, and I long to make it my permanent home once more, someday soon...
Hebridean: A Tribute to Scottish Wildflowers and My Heritage
Allow me to introduce my exclusive Hebridean Machair Wildflower Collection of handcrafted blooms, affectionately known as "my babies." Each piece is inspired by the untamed beauty of Scottish machair wildflowers. The machair, found in the Outer Hebrides, is a unique coastal habitat renowned for its fertile sandy soil and vibrant biodiversity. During the summer months, this environment transforms into a paradise for a stunning array of wildflowers, bursting into a spectacular riot of colours. As a child, I spent endless hours exploring the landscapes of my grandparents' village, marvelling at the little flowers and beasties in my playground. Those cherished memories left a mark, fuelling my art today.
Being Different is My Superpower
What truly sets my floral designs apart is the use of authentic HARRIS TWEED®. This fabric, with its rich heritage and remarkable quality, adds unparalleled depth and authenticity to my creations. When you bring my work into your space, you're not just getting flowers; you're receiving a piece of Scotland that's as unique and enduring as the landscapes that inspire it and their creator. Imagine a bouquet of my flowers that embodies the spirit of windswept cliffs and wild moors. Each arrangement I create is a narrative woven from the natural beauty of Scotland. The vivid colours and intricate textures of Harris Tweed are thoughtfully chosen to evoke the wild elegance of the Hebrides.
Embracing Uniqueness
Choosing this path was about more than just a career change; it was about embracing who I am and what I love. Every piece I create is an expression of my individuality and creativity. Through my work, I strive to inspire others to follow their own unique paths, no matter how unconventional they may seem. In this new chapter of my life, I am committed to sharing the beauty of textile art with the world and encouraging others to find joy in their own creative endeavours.
More Than Just Decorative Pieces
My designs are more than just decorative pieces; they are functional art. Each arrangement serves as a reminder of the beautiful harmony between human creativity and the natural world. Whether displayed in your home or a public space, my creations inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the rugged beauty of our landscape. If you're looking to bring a piece of Scotland's breathtaking scenery into your life, I invite you to explore my collection. Each handcrafted design is not just a floral arrangement; it's a cherished piece of art that bridges the gap between nature and artistry. Thank you for allowing me to share my passion with you!
